When our team first stepped into the old basement, it was a dark, damp, and disconnected space — a forgotten corner of the home. The ceiling was low, the concrete floor uneven, and the humidity levels had already caused visible damage to the drywall and framing.
Our client’s dream was ambitious: to turn this neglected area into a bright, multifunctional living space with a lounge, a small home gym, and a guest suite — all while staying within structural limits and a tight schedule.

The design vision was clear from day one: bring light and comfort underground.
Our designers at BSA Group envisioned a modern basement that wouldn’t feel like a basement at all — open, warm, and seamlessly connected to the rest of the house. To achieve this, we introduced a neutral color palette, layered lighting, and moisture-resistant materials that mimic the textures of natural wood and stone.

We also reimagined the ceiling layout to integrate HVAC lines more efficiently, allowing for increased height and better air circulation — one of the most complex tasks in this project.

The Hard Road of Renovation

Every renovation has its obstacles, but this one tested both our technical skills and patience.
We had to completely re-level the concrete floor, re-route plumbing that was never meant for expansion, and solve a surprise issue — hidden water seepage along the foundation wall that required an additional waterproofing system.

Our crew spent days drilling, sealing, and installing sump pumps before we could even start framing. It was a tough call to stay on schedule, but our project manager, Alex, decided to work in staggered shifts to make up the lost time — a decision that kept the project moving without compromising quality.
